Wanted to test out my reprofiled edge on the cgfbm.
Seemed like she was doing great, until I realized this log was pretty dead and brittle!
I felt like a moron when I looked at my knife on the video, like it had some super abilities :)
Thought I'd poke fun at myself a bit

thanks for the upload...:)

was it a CG or NM BM?

she was biting great-- you have your edge optimized very well...

Mistress's bring a lot of inertia to the table also...pretty cool how it was knocking the log down and broke it off at the end.

good stuff!

CG, thanks! I think the log was pretty dead, which is why it broke off.
I have another one, bigger and more dense recorded, but am trying to figure out how to speed up the video so you don't have to sit 10 minutes watching me sweat :D

Well, it was good enough to get broke off a proper chunk
And dropped off a giant piece of some of that funky stuff

That's awesome buddy! Have you experienced any edge rippling with your 15 degree edge?

So I ended up finding a much larger, and very much dense fallen tree.
I edited the video so you don't have to sit through it all,, but it took 8 minutes.
15 DPS, with a 20 degree microbevel. REALLY happy with the performance!

I really need to get that thing rescaled.. I have to wrap the handle in that sticky self adhesive bandaging for grip. G10 is just way too slippy for a chopper IMO.

None what so ever,, but keep in mind, I say 15 DPS because I did it on the 30 degree angle of my Sharpmaker,, so its probably a little off.

Also, when I got home I did check. It wouldn't shave, but would slice magazine paper easily. 20 strops,, and would shave again.

Forgot to mention the second reason for the 'experiment'.
I wanted to see for myself what Ive read so much about,, that once you grind away the factory edge(with abrasives), you're left with the 'good' INFI that wasn't subjected to heat from a grinder. Ive read this A LOT! Usually after someone chips a Busse, they get that answer.
From everything Ive seen, it absolutely is different. It definitely holds its edge longer, we'll see how it holds up.

Very nice, thanks. Still a little unclear on exactly what the blade is, need more close-ups. Love the way that log section floats away, very nice special effect.

That big log reminds me of a story.

Out in the woods with my first Mistress, circa 2007. We came across a small fallen tree across the trail, so she wanted to do a good deed, and she then made short order of the log.

Moving on down the trail, we came across a much bigger fallen tree. (sorry, no pics) It had already been sawn and chopped, but not even a little bit through. Well, my Mistress was up to a bit of a workout, so chopping we began. After getting deeper than previous efforts, she found broken bits of a saw blade rudely left behind in the wood.

I was forced to go home at that point and caress my Mistress to make it all better. ;)

you need to go back and splice in another "blade stare" <like in the first one> @ :38 of the new footage and it would be totally badass...hahaha

I think you have stumbled upon "Chuck Norris' Mistress" ... the damn log in the first clip says "to hell with this beating" surrenders and breaks on its own...the second log runs away rather than take one more pummeling from the blade!

these clips are gold, I laugh every time I watch the first one, and what makes it so damn hilarious is that "look" is totally spontaneous...thanks for both uploads :D:thumbup:

Hockey tape is your friend. Once around and you haven't changed the size of the handle much while increasing grippiness by a ton.

Guy: that's a great story,, pieces of a saw?? The knife in the video is my CGFBM.
Timmy: I'm ordering some from Amazon as we speak, couldn't find any in local stores.
Petey: haha I wish we were that skilled with editing :D

Rob...you might wanna try a large "ranger band" a.k.a. bike innertube custom cut to fit...

check out how mykel's got his lean Chop House rigged on the Busse Exchange <top of page>... looks really functional and won't have any seams or stickyness ...

I have found they do have a kind of sulphur smell from the vulcanized rubber, however, if that sort of thing bothers you :(

always wondered about that but never tried it,, I'll check it out
Also, I can't tell if people think my name is Rob,, or if autocorrect changes "rcb" to "rob" :D
