Funny...

This link from a countryman of one of our true allies. I have my own story to tell about how the Brits get along with "Yanks" if anybody's intererested.

I remember Harry Belafonte, though he is a little before my time.

Go on Uncle Bill, tell us the story.

I will tell you what a work collegue of mine, ( a former Royal Marine from the mountain combat unit, funnily enough ), said after watching the footage of Palestinians dancing in the streets on September 11th. Like myself he had seen the woman dancing in the street, and commented "I hope a ****ing cruise missile drops on her mud hunt while she's eating her goat kebab" ,( not many P.C. people in the UK armed forces-not many where I work funnily enough ).

Just so you know that many of us over her feel just as strongly as you do over there. I just hope a unit of SF men or Gurkha's locate 'the bastard' so he doesnt get the relief of a quick death.

I see the German Chancellor has offered troops as well, so credit to them as well.

Michael, I like you more all the time:D

Uncle Bill, I'd like to hear that story as well!

And yeah I 'remember' Harry B., I went to see him live in Maui 2 or so years ago--he was amazing!! You'd never know how old he is from the show he put on, and what a great personality he has:)
My mom is a HUGE fan, and I got a photographer friend of mine who was shooting the concert to let me have a print of Harry standing on stage with his arms spread wide wearing a bright red shirt and a Maile lei(green and long, leafy) around his neck. She was thrilled! It hangs next to my brother and I's baby pics:D

Here's the story: My first trip to London not so many years after WWII I took a taxi -- you know, the black crazy looking kind they drive there. The driver immediately recognized me as an American and we chatted easily for the entire journey. When we arrived at our destination I tried to pay but the driver wouldn't accept payment. He said, "This one's on me, Yank. I remember what the Yanks did for us during the war."

The fare wasn't much, maybe 3 or 4 dollars, but I still remember the kindness extended by that cab driver. And, I'll have to say the cool, reserved British were anything but cool and reserved and made this American feel right at home over there.

That is a splendid story.

Let me assure you I havent forgotten what the US and it's good people continue to do. Of course, I am slightly biased-my brother took US citizenship and my nieces are, of course, US born.

I really like that one Alan, thanks.
