fur trim of parka hoods why?

Does fur trim of parka hoods actually have any use to somehow keep you warmer?

If so can you explain how it does that?

The first ones were wolf fur. The story is that this type of fur would not freeze up when the moisture from human breath froze. I think it's decoration now.

Also helps "break up" wind that would blow in/across the face.
