Furniture restoration?

I have an old desk made by the Standard Furniture company (Same company that was contracted for the UN) The finish is GONE (worn to a thin layer and the wood is becoming affected accordingly) The central drawer has worn down 1/4", past the first dovetail and into a nail. Who could do a repair and resto?

Any decent carpenter. You may find an apprentice or student from a Community college may do it for less than a pro, but expect (usually) less of a result.

You may also find a retiree who would more than likely do a better job, especially if they served a full apprenticeship.
