Where I live I have no way to feel and test the balance of my next knife purchase before I buy. So I would appreciate it if you could tell me how well the BR stands up to the RTAK and BK-9 (my current choppers) in terms of chopping ability and overall toughness. Any help would be appreciated

In both categories it will surpass them, due to the blade thickness and geometry. The Battle Rat is thicker and more blade heavy than either, and will be easier to use in chopping applications for extended times, do to that balance and the handle. Those two will surpass it in light brush/machete type work, as they are a little lighter and balanced in such a way as to be more effective in snap cuts, and the RTAK is kind of built like a machete and has a reach advantage.

For the tasks you name, the Battle Rat will leap ahead of what you're using.
