Fusion Steel Heart Thickness

Can anyone tell me the thickness spec on the standard Fusion Steel Heart?

Awhile back Galaxytech reported that he had a thinner than spec Fusion Steel Heart. In that I like the thinner blades, such as the ZT series, Terror Monkeys, Anorexic Badgers, Leaner Meaner, etc. I coveted that knife after handling it at a Gun Show.

I ordered a black crinkle coated FSH with black canvas magnum handles, and when it came it was a thinner blade as well, much to my delight. I don't have a micrometer, but eyeballing it with a tape where the spine meets the handle, it is positively not thicker that 0.200", and is perhaps slightly thinner than that.

This is by no means a complaint. I am very pleased. I just wonder if this is
a rare variation or is it standard?
 
The standard Fusion Steel Heart was originally listed on the Busse Combat site as 1/4" thick.
 
If I remember correctly, you have to measure by the handle, as the blade tapers slightly as it gets away from the handle.
 
mike, i just measured the one i got and it is.250 over the blk crinkle, the hofsh measured .330 over blk crinkle.
 
O.K. I went back and measured as carefully as I can using a tape. My previous measurement was just on the blade side of the little curve in front of the handle. Measuring between the handles, and again on the skull crusher, it is just a slight bit less than 1/4". Maybe just normal variation. It is black crinkle, BTW.

I need a micrometer anyway, so after I take care of that little chore, I'll get a more definitive measurement.
 
mike, please don't waste your money on a mic, send it to me and i'll use the one i already have. please enclose return postage.
 
You mean that you would deprive my engineer's heart of the opportunity to acquire some more cool measuring instruments? For shame!
 
You can send it to me Mike. I should be able to get around to measuring sometime in the future. Be sure that it will be well taken care of in the mean time.
 
I remember there beining a post by Jerry saying the FSH was under size and the HOFSH was going to be oversized.
 
They,in my opinion are .220, then about .020 thicker with blk crinkle. I'd bet they are .220 w/o crinkle finish.

maybe.... maybe so but according to garth who got is ass chewed over revealing this,

"the grinding dust is collected and mixed with the chemical resistant epoxy, applied and oven baked @ 300 degrees for 60 minutes, creating a steel like coating. the paint has it's own rh of 59"

so i would think measuring over the coating would be fair and should be included in the total :thumbup:
