Hello everyone. I know this has already been adressed, and I know it's obviously a well-kept secret among Sal and friends but:

I fell in love with H1 and the Salt series when I first handled my Pacific Salt.

In a few months I've tracked, searched and acquired most H1 steel knives in the world (coated, uncoated, plain, serrated Pacific Salt, Aqua Salt Tasman Salt, Ladybug and Salt I, Dragonfly Salt, Spyderhawk, Mariner Salt, most of G.Sakai's knives in H1, etc.) and have found my comfort spot as far as knives are concerned. :)

Now, after reviewing the ARK in this forum I was told in the comments by The Master Sal himself that they were working on a serrated prototype. That'll be a sure purchase. And I'd just like to know if there's any other H1 projects in mind (or LC200N) and if so, how many months or years will we have to wait to hear from them, to see a preview or just to know what the h*ck is next.

Please, anybody at Spyderco would be so kind to tell about any rust-proof knives from the next few years? I have a relly tight knife budget (in fact, most of my life's knife budget has been spent on H1 blades) and I'd like to know if I should really spare and forget about all my other "wants" or it'll be a while until I need to worry about my knife budget.

Thanks everybody (wish The Master himself can comment here) and have a nice day.

Well ... you can't possibly be using all those blades. Why not sell the neglected ones to fund the new ones?

They'll be happy, their new owners will be happy, and you'll be happy. ;)

Dang, you may need to change your screen name to CableTieEmersonMan. ;) Maybe forget the H1 and just pick up a couple of these....

Just giving you a hard time. I like the ingenuity. And I like H1 too, but haven't had the chance to really compare edge retention to XHP, S35VN, etc. So far I only have 3 tiny H1 blades...Dragonfly, LadyBug, and ARK. The super lightweight models that I might throw in pocket of swimming suit or such.

Go to the Spyderco forum, Sal and Surfingringo had cooked up a high end H1 folder that appears to be Millie-esque. I think it was left as being "large and possibly G10". Can't remember much else. I tried like the dickens to advocate for an H1 Ayoob since Sal commented that it would be easy to accomplish since the Ayoobs were made at a favorable Japanese plant for H1.

is there a picture of this knife?

Believe it or not I am a long time, years long lurker but not an actual member of the forum.
Anyone would be so kind...? :o

Hi TBD,

Sorry if I gave that impression. The maker of the Ayoob does not work with H1.

sal

The Ayoob has a Moki look to it, with the flush pivot pin and Micarta handles. G Sakai does the H1 stuff, so it sounds like it might be more feasible to talk Spyderco into Salt versions of the knives they make. Most, if not all, of the Zytel and stainless handled knives from Japan have telltale G Sakai workmanship. Now Peacent and other H1 fans need to figure out which models are made through G Sakai and hound Spyderco to come out with a Salt version.;)

Yes, I supposed it'd go that way. Contacting G.Sakai seems a real challenge to me.
I own a number of G.Sakai knives and have been pleased so far (the SabiNabi 5 is such a great outdoors blade!), but it is very hard for me to find them because of language, country (I live in Europe) and many other things.
I overpaid for each and every of them and had hard times to get them, Spyderco's been always easier to get and research.
So, I was really hoping that some company, or any of you big guys from Spyderco, had anything prepared with this awesome (or the new LC200N) steel, and this incredibly useful line of products.

Anyway, thanks for your answers everyone! Keep'em coming!

AMEN!!! Hallehlujah!!! HIGHFIVE!!>> TBD you just made my day big time!!! An H-1 Salt version of the C-60 Ayoob model would truly be a major dream come true blade for me>> and I know I wouldn't be the only Spyderhead to think so. I already have 5 Ayoob models going all the way back to the original Almite all the way to the Sprint Run G-10 versions and the great Spyderedged versions of the early 2000s and they are like family jewells in my user/collector's arsenal.

I know we've talked about the possibility of an H-1 Ayoob in several threads over at Spyderco.com forum but it bears repeating for sure. But if we were to get this off the ground I would absolutely insist that we also must have it available in Spyderedge and plain edge both. We all know the accolades of H-1 being an excellent steel for Spyderedges so it just makes perfect sense IMO.

A few more pics of my love for H-1...while waiting for any more input on this thread and seeing the subject develop

Please don't let this thread (or this desperate attempt to keep pushing Spyderco in a subtle way ;)) die!
Thank you!

What's that big old hawkbill? I'm unfamiliar, and it's cool!

Been carrying this one the most, lately.

Only gripe is that I really, really don't like the Ti clip. It's much too stiff. A standard hourglass would be the cat's ass. :)
Aside from that, I am a big fan of the Tasman.

The Big Ol' Hawkbill is my second favorite Salt so far...the Spyderhawk Salt!
Almost 4 inches of serrated or plain H1 cutting power.

20150901_153314_zpsqcigzppt.jpg

Absolutely lightweight. If you combined Hawkbill + Serrated + H1 hardening in serrations, what'd you get?

20150901_153335_zpsfxdtgo3t.jpg

The completely undisputed chainsaw-like folder available. And no problem when using it by the sea! Just flip open, cut those 1" ropes like spaghetti, back to the pocket again.

I really, really recommend this blade to anyone who can find one. They pop up on the Big Auction Site from time to time...
If only they made a sprint run, or bring them back...! One can dream, right?
