I waked away with a some hope for the future... and a ne friend for life in my nephew...Needless to say we both are looking forward to the next trip

Outstanding, John: simply outstanding. That's a great thing to have going on, passing the skills from one generation to the next.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good stuff John ... you gotta get them while they're young and keep them away from those playstations :D

nice.

that's a quality blade you've given the youngling. it'll serve him well while he learns how to care for a knife properly.

THanks For the Kind words Gents. Can;t wait till my own boys are old enough to get out there for real with me....

Great deal RR!! Always fun to teach the youngsters.

I got started at 11 yers old from reading Larry Dean Olsens "Outdoor Survival Skills". Give him a copy of that book and Mors Kochanski's Northern Bushcraft and he'll be on his way.

Outdoor survival skills is one of my favs.. My old copy (long since gone had a foreward written by Robert Redford)

Glad to see another young one out in the woods. My nephew likes knives, but I haven't been able to get him to go on any long hikes with me yet. There is still time for him though.

Perfect! I bet that was a great feeling (especially giving him something as memorable as his first fixed blade, and a Mora at that). Looks like you had a good time for sure!

Great stuff John :thumbup:

But ixnay on the atoningbay with the oramay, just kidding of course :D

He'll be telling his kids about this day while showing them the same skills. Way to go John!

Jeff

A partnership to treasure RR...from both sides. Sounds like he's off to a great start already, you're a good mentor. What a handsome young man too, I doubt he'll be scaring any sheeple while out in the woods :-) That area really looks nice, especially the pic looking down toward the lake, thatsa beauty.

Great stuff RR! Teaching and introducing that next generation of woodsmen is the best thing any of us can do. It looks like you guys had a great time and will be back for plenty more. I bet he knows who his favorite uncle is :D .
