I'm looking for a futuristic looking knife. Something like many of the ones made by Masters of Defense. However, something a little less costly, like under $150.

Yeah, I know, "futuristic" is highly subjective, but please bear with me; all opinions welcome.

I mean something like these:

Knives that look real "cutting edge"...(saw that one coming, did you?). ;)

I don't know if this is considered "futuristic" or "old-school futuristic" but you could check out the Paul Chen Starship.

Pro's: Cool presentation case, not too expensive, could get you laid at a Star Trek convention.

Con's: Made in China, some reports of quality issues, could cause you to get felt up by Comic Book Store Guy at a Star Trek convention.

How is that a "Pro"?

If Pro is the opposite of COn, what's the opposite of Progress?

Ok, enough jokes. I think a CRKT might be right up your alley. Take a look around their site, and be sure to check out the Point Guard .
Where I come from, the Point Guard is the poor guy checking ID's at 1200 midnight in the rain, i.e. yours truly this weekend.

How about a boron coated Leek by Kershaw. It looks high tech and is useful and sharp too. Also you would have enough of your 150 left to buy some freaky klingon fixed blade from United or someone.

How about a Microtech Vector? They don't make them anymore but you can still find them on the net if you look. I picked one up for around $120. Looks like a bear to sharpen though.

Here's a pic that I stole from Moore Cutlery's site.

Edited to add pic
Edit pt2: I just noticed the price diff on the Vector compared to the price guess I gave. The one I have is a manual, that's an auto.

Hi. I'm new here. Been reading the posts for a while and I really enjoy them, but this is my first post.

I said functional. As in "works", not "suitable for a ST function"

Atlanta Cutlery makes a knife somewhat similar to a d'k tahg they call "The Phoenix." Is not a great or good knife for that matter, but it is an actual working knife. :) They sell it for about $80.00. The best price for it can be found at

I tried to insert a picture of it, but I don't know how. Sorry.
