Okay guys, you can stop holding your breath now. I started a few months back and made a couple knives, then I screwed up the power in my garage and got busy with other shit, add in a lot of laziness and I hadn't been trying anything knifemaking wise for a little while.

But I'm back with a vengeance and have returned to set the knifemaking chatroom on fire with sick drunken humor and poor attempts at knifemaking. Fixed the power in my garage (extension cords) and got working on a kiridashi type deal last night. I'm actually pretty satisfied with it thus far, and I'm almost ready for heat treat. I'm making it for a friend of mine and she is going to do some kinda hemp rope handle wrap type deal on it so I want to make sure that's good to go before I heat treat and can't make any changes. Need to do a bit more sanding but it's coming along. Only have one decent pic right now, so here it is.

It depends on how we decide to do it. Drilling is a major process because my drill press is messed up, so I was thinking of wrapping and then saturating the hemp stuff with superglue.
 
Welcome back Futz, We were getting worried you had fallen down the stairs and bumped your head, resulting in you thinking you were Emeril Lagasse's long lost love child!

The steel looks nice and looks like it will definitely cut. but I agree with Count, Put some holes in her. Even if you have to put it in a vice and use a hand drill!
 
Welcome back! I like the kiridashi, it reminds me of a Warren Thomas knife. Bam!

Are we talking about the knife or the girl?

EDIT- Emeril is my love child.
 
It is now drilled. Looks kinda shitty but it's light enough to make a dandy neck knife, and it should all get covered up by a wrap so it's all good. No pics now, pics later. I tore up my hand pretty good when the thing went spinning.

LOL you should have clamped it in a vice.

I'm gonna go digging around see if I can find some sort of drill vise thing. Think I got one somewhere. The hand isn't really bad at all, I'm just a baby. Sorry about the video.
