I traded for a Basic 7 a while ago. I was impressed by the balance of the knife and the ergonomics of the grip. I'm not too fond of the edge grind but thats more because I have to make a strop than because of performance. On that note though, on basic strikes against cardboard and cloth it does pretty well. For wood chopping and light limbing it is not as good as my Raven. I'm guessing that has alot more to do with the edge thickness than anything else.
Now the fuzzyprene. The only thing I really disliked about the knife was the slick grip. It always seemed oily when I was working out with it. So I buffed it up with 200grit paper. Now it sort of sticks to my bare hand or glove but still absorbs a lot of shock.
Not too shabby.
