Yesterday I was attempting to do a search in the BF archives - Greg Walkers Battle Blades - and my AVG virus protection program gave me a warning. Immediately, I was hit with over 20 pop-up adds before I could shut down.

Results so far - the virus was the Trojan horse dropper, healed by AVG - still don't have the malware beat, got rid of everything but the coolwebsearch bug. I've been through I can't count how many spybot S. & D. and Lavasoft Ad-Aware scans and still don't have the bugger fixed.

Be careful - the a-holes never sleep.

I have been unattacked for years. Last week, however, I poked in a new website and all the alarms started going off. I missed closing one window by AVG and that was my death knell....

Before I knew it I had the 'horseserver virus' and it took me days to get the fix. Had to reinstall windows XP twice. Came in through a Java app, I heard.

I feel your pain!

After installing different anti-spyware programs, running multiple scans, doing a 35 pass disc scrub w/ Eraser and a moderate amount of swearing, my malware/spybot/pop-up problem is licked.

Monday night, I had the computer guru from my wife's company come over for some expert advice.

He filled me in on all the techno stuff.

I told him that if I could get my hands on the prick that came up with this stuff, I'd take one of my Bagwells, put down plastic on the floor, and proceed to cut the A-holes foot off and watch him flop around for awhile.

His answer was that if I could do that, he could get it up on the 'net, and we could make millions from pay-per-view.

What a world - they'll screw you just to try to sell you something.
