FYI : Cold Steel has officially started MAP !

That is unfortunate but not unexpected. You could usually pick up cold steel knives on eBay or Amazon for well under the prices at BladeHQ. I don't fault them for doing this, but it does lessen my enthusiasm for their knives because one of my favorite things about them was their performance in terms of value. They had better step up their fit and finish and QC if we're going to pay $40 more overnight for the same knife.

To be fair, at least they're being honest: "We're doing this to take care of our customers".

Their customers are the resalers who buy and then sell their product, not the end user.
Yes , despite all the BS , net result to the consumer is higher prices due to lack of competition at the retail level .:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Knives in general are just getting more expensive, with no real increase in quality. That’s why I’m trying to build a solid rotation or about 6 or 7 knives before I move and become a broke ass university student. Probably won’t buy anything for a long time after that, ESPECIALLY if this trend continues.

I mean look at the AD-15, I was going to get one but that thing went from like $140 to $200 with zero changes. Totally not worth it anymore.

Yeah, everyone going to MAP and increasing prices every year has slowed my knife purchasing to a snails pace. Luckily I secured an AD10 before the price jumped up $40.

I have always enjoyed looking at the CS catalogues that come in the mail knowing that if something struck me as a MUST HAVE, I could find it cheaper than in their list. I am on a 2019 knife buying moratorium, but this ensures I will not be back to CS in 2020.

I’m generally okay with the price increases. Cold Steel knives are still a decent value at BladeHQ prices, and Spyderco is good at releasing knives that are, in one way or another, still worth it.

Besides, overall, this has a low impact to my knife purchases since I buy almost everything secondhand. I sat on buying my current primary EDC (Spyderco Caribbean; Oklahoma is super humid) for several months until one popped up at a price I was happy with.
