I thought this would be the best place to post this but I'll shut it down if the moderators don't agree.

I purchased what I thought were 2 Gerber Strongarms that turned out to be knockoffs.
At a glance they look right but the more you look at them closely you can tell.
The fine edge is barely sharpened and the serrations aren't sharpened at all. The serrations are covered over with the black blade coating and have no pull.
The blade stock is thinner than others I've purchased and is slightly shorter. The grinds are way off near the tip. I haven't seen anything obviously off about the sheaths yet.
The boxes have no model stickers and aren't as wide as the real ones. There isn't a cardboard insert, the knives are inside a bubble wrap sleeve. There are other small things but you get the idea.
I have spoken to a Gerber rep who said the box alone proves they are fakes. He said all of the boxed ones should have a sticker that shows model and color and they do not sell refurbs.
I'm sending him photos of these.

These 2 Strongarms were priced at the average range so it's not an obvious fraud until you see them. The sellers used stock photos in the listings.
The knives were sent from the same address with identical packaging. They claim to be 2 different sellers but I'm not buying it.
Ebay has been notified and the sellers are supposedly sending return labels. Everything is pending so I'm not listing the sellers names for now.
All I will say for now is beware of Florida sellers. Both of the sellers still have the Strongarms listed for sale even though they have been notified about the counterfeits.

I've never had this type of problem before so I'm trying to give the sellers benefit of doubt but it's not a good sign that they continue to list the knives regardless of the issues.
More to follow....

Contact PayPal. If they are fakes & were listed as real, they will return your money & probably send the knives to the anchorites. At least that's how it's supposed to work.

Ebay has been notified as stated. Waiting for results. My Ebay account is linked with PP.

It's gotten to a point where buying knives off eBay - especially Spyderco and ZT - requires a decent amount of research into what clones and counterfeits are available. I dip my toes into the larger Chinese websites every once in a while for a refresher on what I cannot trust when seen on eBay. It would be nice if these companies would just avoid copying the branding and packaging if they aren't going to just do the right-er thing and stop altogether.

That's a bummer man, sorry to hear it. How it's legal for foreign companies to sell knockoffs domestically w/ branding, packaging and all just blows my mind. :(

This is why I only try to buy from factory authorized retailers. I do zero business w/ Amazon or Ebay.

I typically buy from known vendors but I've tried some with high trader ratings.
Got burned on this one regardless of the outcome.

I regret to say that any effort I made to expose these sellers has been wasted. After assurances from Gerber and EBay that something would be done, nothing has changed. The sellers are still listing Strongarms in quantity.
I recouped the money but it bothers me that more effort wasn't made to shut this down.
Oh well, lesson learned.

Just saw a review on YT. This is still going on by the same sellers and others.
