FYI! This factory makes all Fallkniven blades

Sal Glesser was also talking about Takefu in another topic so they (probably) make vg10 for spyderco and make vg1 voor coldsteel.

I would like to see something in their powder metal. The Shiro2 looks like it would make a good chopper.

awesome. thanx for that!

i think i asked about which factory makes the Fallkniven blades.

fyi: i asked Fallkniven, the steel they use is mined at an LKAB mine in Malmberget then shipped to Japan in pellet form to be made into steel for knives.

..and did you know that LKAB are expanding their mining in Kiruna (northern Sweden) so much they´re going to, litterally, move big parts of the town Kiruna!

From Wikipedia
"Moving the town
In 2004, it was decided that the present centre of the municipality (N67°49'48'', E20°25'48'') must be relocated to counter mining related subsidence. The relocation will be made gradually over the coming decade. On January 8, 2007, the new location was decided. Kiruna will gradually move northwest to the foot of the Luossavaara mountain, by the lake of Luossajärvi.[35]

The first actual work on moving the town was done in November 2007, when work on the new main sewage pipe started.[36] In the same week, first sketches for the layout of the new part of the town became available.[37] The sketches include a travel centre, the new locations for the city hall and the church, an artificial lake and an extension of the Luossavaara hill into the city.[38] The location of the new section of the E10 is still uncertain, as is the location of the railway and the railway station. A more official sketch was published early in spring 2008, which was then discussed with various interest groups before a further version is produced.

Most of the buildings in Kiruna will simply be torn down and rebuilt at the target site. However, the Kiruna city hall, the most architecturally significant building in Kiruna, will be cut into four parts, each of which will be transported whole to the target site and reassembled there. The move will require an extremely flat and level road tens of metres wide and will be extremely slow."

Question: Does this factory also make the SGPS / 3G steel blades for Fallkniven ?

Just wanted to be sure. I was under the impression that Takefu supplies the steels and lets only the Japanese knife-makers make complete knives out of VG-10, the other steels I have no clue.

i'm pretty sure they just supplies the blanks. 3g, vg10 and laminated vg10. their cowryX damascus blades i doubt as it's produced by another factory. (daido)

IIRC at one time Moki of Seki Japan made the folders and Hattori made the fixed blades for Fallkniven. That would fit within the "assembled in Japan" requirement for Japanese blade steel.

SGPS - super gold powdered steel. I think it is from the bottom of this table:

Pretty bad edge holding both for Fallkniven SGPS and Kershaw SG2.

Thanks, Vassili.

I have an old (from 1998 or 1999) solid VG10 Fallkniven A1, and it says right on the blade "made in Japan". Still my favorite knife. I would love to get an A2 eventually. Just thought I'd throw that in. I don't know how the newer ones are marked.
