I'm thinking it has more to do with the spring tension on the back lock than the handle material but the liners on the G-10 could work to an advantage smoothing things out a little.
Mine are pretty equal, right now. The blade might even be more free falling then my G10.
Then again, my FRN model is 9 months older and was my only Spyderco for a 6 month period (guessing)..
Both spydie flick open.. Maybe more consistent for the G10.
Rolling them open, both are smooth operatoring.
The G10 is a tighter action. (Better feel to it)
I have both and they are roughly the same age. I don't believe that the G10 is any smoother than the FRN. The G10 does have an adjustable pivot but one should not confuse resitence with smoothness.
G10 do have bronze or copper washer
I feel both of mine really nice, the new one is a bit harder but like any other knife... They get better with time, use...
FRN used to be the same better with time ... But are quickly better .
I think I have 5 or 6 Dragonflies right now in various configurations and materials. While they all vary a little in opening, my G10 is just sorta average in that respect.
My G10 (my favorite) is smoother than the frn versions. So is my Nishijin. Get the G10. You will love it. Now if someone would give me the Delica version I would be a happy man.
