G-10 Endura

I remember reading somewhere that it was not very cost effective and it was a limited run to test: a full flat grind and/or the G10 on the platform. I really did like the G10 Endura, It would have been awesome to have it in ZDP-189 too.

I'm really enjoying zdp 189 steel theese days. I completely agree Revdevil. That would have been awesome.

Anybody heard if Spyderco is planning on re-releasing the Endura with G-10 scales?

Didnt they just discontinue it?

Im surprised it didnt sell like hot cakes. When it was announced, everyone was doing dbl back flips. I had one, used it, loved it, lost it, but the wonderful memories remain

I like mine. It's interesting to me that people I show it to always seem to really like it (more than other Spyderco models).

I am picking up a Delica in G-10. Maybe if I soak it in water over night it will grow into an Endura.

I like the G-10 Endura but not the FG color. After a black dye job, it gets a lot of pocket time.

I think one aspect that really catches people eye is when they look at the spine and see the full polished liners, lockbar, and backspacers. It's just feels like a very high quality knife through and through. When I first got mine, I was really impressed with the fit and finish - especially after having previously owned and used the D2 and D3 for a long time.

How in the heck did you dye the scales?

Used RIT dye in black (powder version). Pot of water heated to near boil (then turn the heat off) and mix the full packet of powder. Take the knife apart completely and attached the handles to a coat hanger bent in a fashion to hold two handles side by side. Dipped them in the solution for about a half hour to get good saturation. I didn't let the handles sit as I didn't want the bottom of the pan to possibly melt the G-10 even though it may have not been hot enough. I was next to the pot just moving the handles back and forth in the solution. After a half hour, they were washed and dried. The knife was oiled and put back together with some blue loctite on the screws. I've done a few G-10 Dragonflys, Khukuris, Enduras and will do a few Delicas soon.

It isn't much of a deal to drop a ZDP189 blade in a G-10 handle. All you need is the two appropriate knives and a few tools to swap out the parts. Did I mention that I have an extra Endura with an FRN handle and a FFG VG10 blade.

I have always been an Endura guy. Delicas never "did it" for me until I got the g10 version. I love it! So I start searching for its big brother, finally nabbed one early this week. I can't wait for this wonderful knife to arrive, but when it did.....I didn't like it.

I have no idea why, I love fg g10, love ff grinds, hate black clips on colored handles but that was an easy fix, like my knives to have a bit of heft, so why don't I care for it? I honestly don't know. It just looks and feels...gumpy. I really can't explain it better than that.

So I'm shipping mine off to Eric ^ who loved and lost his. It will be in the hands of someone who can appreciate it. Trade deal

I've been very impressed with the one I own. It's a wicked sharp full, flat grind and grippy g-10 lockback made by Spyderco. What's not to love?

I like it best of all the non ZDP enduras. My problem with it was that for the money I could have a ZDP bladed knife. I still have my one G10 Endura and won't get rid of it but I carry my ZDP enduras and stretches more often.

It's really built nice. A beautiful knife lost in my pile of way too many VG10 knives.

Here are pictures of a G-10 Endura and Delica with a ZDP-189 blade swap. Was kind of expensive to make these but I am very pleased with the results!!
I love the ZDP blade steel.
