I got one of these from Smoky Mountain a couple weeks ago and it continues to impress me as well as everybody I show it to. I have a couple of friends at work that I show all new knife purchases to. They are always interested but they always hand it back. They've never broken down and said they had to have one of those. Well, the Harpy has broken through that. First one of them last week decided it was the deal that he was going to take advantage of for a present for a friend. Then today he decided to order another one for himself. Then friend number two decided he couldn't live without one either. I called SMK and they still had some in stock so that's two more on the way to Oklahoma.

These things practically sell themselves! It is small enough that people don't turn off immediately like with my full size Wegner. But it's not a toy like the necklace knife. Some co-workers had kind of liked the BF Native but were put off by both price and the etching on the blade. When they handle the Harpy and hear the price they pull out their credit cards. Tell me again why it is being discontinued? Did knife dealers actually get people to pick one up and open it a few times? I know you couldn't make any money selling them for these closeout prices but maybe something in the middle like $55-60 would be good enough. I will be sorry to see it go but at least a couple of my friends are Spyderco owners now!

I couldn't agree more. I'm delighted with my G10 Harpy and very pleased that I made the decision to get it rather than the Merlin.

The only way to make it better is to add one of Mike Sastre's neck sheaths

. Makes a really useful little package which is ready for *any* emergency 24/7. Mike makes an outstanding product and his service is the best I have come across on the net.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I already had a SS Harpy, But I was down at SMKW last week on vacation and I had liked the G10's so much I bought two of them for 42.99ea. Talked my friend into buying one also, I've seen the clip hanging out of his pocket every since!

Prior to the closeout pricing, my G-10 version cost somewhere in the high 60's as I recall. Apparently this was too rich for many uninformed purchasers. Too bad, as this model should be a keeper in terms of function.
