G 10 How to fnish?

Slowly and with a good face mask.

Go up,the grits from 220 to 1000 or more. Do this by hand sanding.

Clean all dust up with a vacuum and dust yourself off well before going in to your passel of kids.

G-10 gives off super fine glass fibers when sanded, and these can severely damage your lungs ( and small children are even more susceptible).

Wet sand, it's much safer.

Yep! I wet sand both G-10 and Micarta after my rough shaping on the grinder. I still wear the respirator when wet sanding but it definitely reduces the dust by a huge margin. In between grits I take a damp paper towel and wipe up the small puddle left from wet sanding and toss it in the garbage and wipe down the handle. Seems to keep the work area much more free of dust.

Now there's an idea, Bill:D Headin to the pool, let me grab my trunks, a towel, some blades and a few sheets of wet/dry paper and I'm set:thumbup:

I actually might try it in a bucket or something if I think about it.

I like to rub a little mineral oil into it. It's not really a finish or a sealer - it just brightens up the color a little.

Brett, good of you to mention that. You don't need to apply anything to seal it, but I do wipe them down with a bit of Tuf Glide or Renaissance Wax just to make the color pop Like Brett. If you like a more frosted look, you can leave it totally as is after final sanding and you're good to go.

Bead blasting it, then rubbing it with with danish oil makes for a grippy handle with a nice "matte" finish.
