G-10 reacting to oil? / Advice for light pitting on double cut

Pulled out one of my safe queens a few days ago and noticed a little light pitting on the double cut finish (at least I think its double cut, are there single blasted finishes?). I had Renaissance Wax on it so either I used too little or it doesn't work that well. I put some MilTec oil on the blade and a little got on the g-10 and when I pulled it out today the g-10 is a little sticky.

Is oil a solvent to g-10? If so how do I clean it off?

I used a little Flitz with a rag on the pitting. It worked okay but there's still some little dark spots. I was considering a cotton wheel with the dremel as slow as I can go maybe? Then again maybe not, a little faint staining might be better than a shiny spot on a blasted surface...

Whatcha oinkers think?

Dawn and warm water with a brush on the G10,I would not do any more than the Flitz on the blade.
I have never had Mil-tec 1 to stain G10 so as not to be able to wash it off.

Is it "pitting" to the point you can feel it or it just discoloration / surface rust. My Double cut blades seem to have this have more than any other......

G10 is impervious to oil and solvents.

My guess is that your cotton wheel would leave a mark.

Starting fluid will remove the oil and make G10 look consistent again, if not slightly drier and not harm it at all. ;)
Handling it will return the color to normal with oil from your hands.
Fast moving parts may cause permanent modification. :(

What Guy said!!! I have used Naptha, Brake Cleaner, B-12, Electra Clean plus others and none of it effects G-10.

The stickiness is probably from the miltec It gets sticky when left to sit or maybe the wax ?

I guess its just surface rust. I just examined it closer and I definitely can't feel it.

Thanks for the advice guys!

At the risk of taking the thread in a different direction or upsetting anyone I have to say that I do not like Renaissance Wax. I live 50 meters from the South Atlantic and I can tell you from bitter experience that the wax does not protect the blade or prevent corrosion.

I use Break Free CLP on all my knives (especially carbon) and I have found that this is the only product that protect the blades properly.

The wax may work in a climate controlled museum but out in the real world.......sorry......no.

Thank you very much, I'll try the Break Free.

If you would like you can send the knife to the shop and we will take care of it for you.

 Its not even Christmas! Thank you very much sir. Considering the time and love that was put into making it I'd hate to see it get boned over by me, as I'm apt to do. I wonder if I'll ever learn to leave nice things alone or god forbid consider I don't know everything already and ask for help. I thought that was supposed to get better as you got older :D
