Question on this stuff. Never used it or owned a knife with g-10. I'm wondering if its toxic to sand, and how the best way to shape it is? Anything else I should know about other dangers in handle materials?

Got 3 knives going for HT tommorrow, and wanted some info ahead of time before I learn the hard way.

yes g-10 is a toxic material...but it can be worked safely, use a good quality canister type respirator, and you should use good ventilation that should cover you on the toxic part,it sands easy using machinery.ie. grinder, dremel, but it also works OK by hand, just use fresh sand paper, and plenty of elbow grease :) hope this helps

The epoxy binder in G-10 is not good to breathe and the fiberglass matrix is decidedly bad (causes silicosis if it gets in yer lungs). Like chisel said, a good respirator and good ventilation/dust collection will go a long way. Careful cleanup afterward isn't a bad idea, either.
