G-10 Vs Micarta?

I'm sure this has been covered before, but for some reason the forums search function doesn't seem to like my browser (Safari) :(

Just about to order my BA-TAC and hoped someone could point me in the directon of some threads / info comparing the two?

I prefer the almost two tone look of Micarta but notice G-10 is more expensive, so reason it might have some properties I'm missing?

The canvas micarta is my favorite. As mentioned if has a little natural grip to its surface.

Lets start by saying, MAC SUCKS!!!! :D

Don't get offended, cuz at this very moment, i am using mac! They suck when dealing with all web/web entertainment stuff. I don't think they are actually better doing design...just a lot of BS from some oldie who are afraid of change. At least now Mac is planing to taking over the world, so I am stick with it to see some result.

I preferr Micarta. It has much better feel in hand.

Sadly I'm quite the mac zealot ^_^ I think it came from walking into work in the morning and having to support a room with about 150 windows 98 PCs in. You could look out over the floor and see the blue screens :/ The mac does the job now ^_^ except occasionally, like this ;)
 
it depends on the texture of the G-10, my favorite is my Emerson CQC-12, I had a Busse with G-10 also but didnt like it as much as the micarta they have

you're not alone.. BF's Search feature seemed intermittent on my Mozilla Firefox browser also.. I've upgraded to latest Firefox 2.0.0.1 and that seems to have fixed it.
BF's Search is java, so i had to make sure Bladeforums.com was white-listed on my NoScript blocker.

so.. what scales are you getting?
I ordered my BA-TAC in tan/tan..

Somebody on another thread said +$25 for G10 was a steal.. if that helps.. or not.
 
I think I'm going for Urban Gray (hopefully sterile) and Black Canvas. I'd prefer satin or double cut but sadly they're not an option :(

I really like how the micarta has a kind of two tone / texture to it in all pics I've, seen almost approaching a marbled effect. G-10 just looks .... sort of flat and simplistic for my taste.
 
G-10 is by far my favorite. The canvas micarta has a much rougher inherent feel to it. If G-10 is left smooth it is slightly slippery.
 
To be honest I was kind of hoping the Micarta would be nice and rough. I find G10 to be inherently slippery and don't really like relying totally on a pattern for grip.

I guess all that remains is magnum or standard handles :/

It's hard to judge whether they'll be too large for my hands, or whether they'll overpower the small frame of the knife compared to the standard scales. Anyone shed any light on that?

I don't care for the the canvas micarta--much perfer the G-10. And as someone who supports over 180 computers and servers on a daily basis (both the Mac and Windows platforms) I am thumbs up for the MacOS!
 
I like the G-10 on my folders, but man that Micarta feels so right to me on my fixed blades, just kind of melts with my hand.

That's a great question. I already ordered with mag scales since I felt the SJT standard scales were too thin for my hands. I'm hoping the mag scales will be perfect, but since they've never done a TAC mag scale before, that I know of, we'll probably have to wait and see.

I can say that the HOGSJTLE with its standard scales felt very nice in my hand, and that the extra thickness of the blade made all the difference. The BATACLE should be the same or better at .25, and the CG with mags will hopefully be just right as well.
