dammit! i just broke two glowrings! i keep an old model purple(the newer old model) and a BRAND NEW:mad: X2 green one on my keychain. the keychain was left on my desk for a few hours this afternoon, i know they were working at the time(spent about 10 minutes comparing the colors 'cause i had nothing to do). well i get back to my desk now and the purple one is just plain broken, the vial shattered and the gas escaped, but the green X2 one is still partly working! my guess is that the casing on the green one is still holding some gas in. Damn! that was $25 well spent.... does anyone know if traser has a warranty on these things? AFAIK they just broke while sitting on my desk, noone comes in here but me...:(

Kenny,

Very strange, since I found the Traser Glowrings over 2 years ago I have been carying them myself and personally never had one fail and I dropped them they have been attached to luggage going in a plabne etc., alhough sometimes there were failures reported to me.

Strange that you ask about warrentee as on the inside of the paper that was stappled on the plastic baggie that the Glowring came in Traser has written down there warrentee covering, this does not include glass tube breakage  although I think if they sell you an 9.95 British Pounds X2 Glowring they should cover such a thing also. In my view if the glass tube breaks they did not make sure that it could not break and that's bad.

What I noticed on the X2's is that the aluminum end-caps are super glued onto the plastic tube and when done carefully there's no superglue inside the central 'hole'holding the glass tube and it will move freely. However my X2 has some superglue slip inside and this has glued the glowtube inside also so it can't rattle anymore and this could keep it from breaking by moving around in the channel.

Kenny, I guess you didn't buy them from us, if you did let me know, but if I were you I would send an email to roger@traser.com and tell him about your $25 misshap and that this is not the way the the Glowrings are supposed to work.

Best Scouting wishes,

Bagheera

thanks Bagheera, the strange thing is that as i told my friend about this today, he mentioned that his glowring(which came in the same order as mine) also broke while stationary at around the same time! seems a little wierd...

How is that possible, that they broke, without being touched, or dropped?, doesnt make any sense..:(

thats exactly what i thought too, but it also appears that my friend's broke in the same way, at the same time....maybe its a conspiracy..:D

The only one I've ever had break was a purple one after I dropped my keys. The case opened up and the hole for the ring was crushed but the tube stayed intact.
Matt

Sounds almost like some sort of sealer failed, after all, the tubes have to be closed somehow. Maybe that is the source of the failures.

no, the two old ones broke near the middle, and the X2 one broke about a third from the end.

The bottom of my wifes old models case just came open and the viel fell out.Just bought her a new one.

mine broke I won't get another. @ the battery store by me they have a new led flashlight for your keychain. It has a "glow" thats on all the time. Not as small not as radioactive. I'll let you know how it works.
Peace
