I've searched and read the other G.D.O.T. threads but I haven't seen this info: Are the G.D.O.T.s made with carbon or stainless blades? I'd assume they are carbon because they are under the Old Timer banner but I've also learned that with Schrade, there are no absolutes. Also, are the G.D.O.T.s any more solidly built than a standard 108OT? Just curious. Your input is appreciated.

From what I have seen of pre-production literature, the only carbon bladed knife was the 152GDOT, the rest were stainless. Might need some verification on that though as I'm not yet positive.

I got my GDOT today. It's really nice, I like it a lot. It's supposed to be 4" but it's about the same size as my Buck 301 which is listed at 3 7/8". I guess Schrade rounded up. It's in incredibly nice shape for something that was made in 1974.

Hi,
I have some of the 1974 knives and some of the smaller 1975 GDOT knives.
The 1974 is an 8OT size frame and the 1975 has a smaller 34OT size frame .
Both knives have Schrade+ stainless blades.
I have found these knives are hard to find with the white sleave over the display box.. Ken

Thanks for responding, koldgold. My GDOT had no papers or box but that didn't matter to me. The last GDOT I've seen on eBay with box & papers went for $100. I'd rather keep the $41 I saved and put it towards another knife.

At that price you have a nice knife. As a collector, 95% of my Schrades come in their box, tin, display or tube. My everyday user Schrage is an 881 WALDEN, that I have been using for about 40 years... Ken
