The jigged bone on the left side of my #53 stockman came loose at the sheep's foot blade pivot. I sent the knife in, and two months later it came back fixed. About a month and a half later the mark side is loose. Is this common on an equal ended stockman? Is this common on G.E.C.? I have carried this knife daily for about two years. Hope some of you G.E.C. collectors and users can help with this.

Have not had this happen with any of mine. Do you have any pics? Cant believe it took two months to get back the first time, hope its a speedier process for you this time around. Out of curiosity what do you use the blade for, what are your daily cutting chores?

I've never heard of this happening with any GECs. I have a few that are well used and get bounced around on concrete quite often, but no serious damage...yet.
At least you know GEC will take care of it. Keep us updated.

Possibly they didn't have a large enough head on the cover pins at the liner side and they pulled through the holes. Same with the cover side if the head was too small there, or if too much of the head was taken off during hafting. If the bone wants to warp it'll exert a pretty decent amount of pressure on those pins.

The knife gets used for just about everything. From cutting duct guard, breaking boxes down, and sharpening pencils at work. Food prep, marking, whittling, opening blister packs, and just about anything else you can think of when not working. I will try to get some pictures up tonight. Eric, thanks I thought that might be the case. Thanks all.

Two months seems pretty quick to me. I have had a knife out for repair at a different manufacturer for close to a year, Nov.22 is the anniversary of when they received it. Was sent in for manufacturing defects, never should have left the factory.

Over 11 months, thats flat out unacceptable. Their are no excuses for that, what company is it?

I agree with Jeff, I think the longest turn around I've ever had has been a month, Rob I hope you have been in contact with the manufacturer, I would have contacted them already, that is way too long.

Two months must be a standard for GEC. I still have a 42 Trader with them that doesn't seem to want to leave the repair department.

I sent my #23 Pioneer in to be squeezed back together last week. A gap suddenly appeared under the spey blade, then I noticed a gap between the stag and the liner. I guess they'll squeeze it back together and flare the pins a bit more this time.
