Found surprisingly little doing a search- anyone have one of these? I'm specifically looking at a Ram II folder, but would be interested in hearing anything about their knives. Anyone know what kind of lock this knife has?

It has a patent pending "Hawk Lock"....at the most basic, it is sort of a spring loaded stud that fits into a mating cavity on the blade tang, and it sealed off from the elements via an assortment of polymer bushings and o-rings.

I had one of MUDD knives at the Pasadena show, I could have explained it then.

I have had a Mudd folder for a while and really like it. Recently I got the Ram 2 in a trade and it is very impressive. The flipper feels like it was spring louded. I do not like the clip very much and switched to an older model.

I have a RAM and played with a MUDD. His work is very good IMO (and I'm very picky). Decently priced too.

They are excellent inventors and really making a contribution to the folder world. They are both very nice guys as well - I have spent a bit of time on the phone with them and met them at the BAKCA show and the Blade West show.

The Ram II is a very nice flipper it is very fast and easy to operate. IMO, they have really improved the grind over the Ram by smoothing out the top of the blade into a beautiful spearpoint. The new "plunger" clip is an improvement over the roller clip on the Ram as well.

The only downsides from my vantage is that the handle is quite thick. Some people like this for a comfortable grip and I like when I handle it but it is not a very pocketable knife for me. The other issue is that operation it can somewhat noisy. If using in public, be aware of who is around.

Thanks all! I guess I should wait until I can handle one. Sure don't see many on the secondary market though... (Well, at least I haven't.)
