G10 15n20 hunter

I did bury the handle a little deep in the sheath, but I wanted the extra security on this one. It's not difficult to get out, but not necessarily easy either. It's meant to be there when you need it for hunting....not for defense.

That looks great! I'm curious if you or someone you know has taken this hunting yet and how it performed? I've been tweaking a deer hunting knife design that is somewhat similar.

I've not taken this exact design, but some that are similar. Let's be honest here...we're not reinventing the wheel. There are designs that work well for different people for different reasons. I can say to some degree that I designed this knife....but if you look hard enough, you'll likely find something very close to it. So it boils down to the details. I like this design (style) because it works in all positions. It's not the safest design around, but I'm not worried about that for myself. The functionality is great....it just comes at the cost of safety. I wouldn't give this design to a kid for his first knife, but it's what I'll be taking with me. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that makes sense about not reinventing the wheel, but I think there is something nice about sketching up something myself/yourself because you like how it works for me/you even if the big picture they are similar. Honestly the fact that I made something similar to yours is evidence that neither of us is reinventing the wheel, because some things just work well.

I consider it my design if I sketch it up without looking at anything else. That said, it's impossible to not be influenced by knives you've seen in the past. It's similar to any art form really....some like to paint, some like to sculpt, some like to sketch. Tracing a picture vs looking mountain and painting it are very different things. Post a picture of your design, I'd love to see it. You can post it on this thread if you'd like.
