G10 chipping?

Yeah... So I pulled my Manix 2 Xl out today... just to open and close it a couple times, when I noticed a white spot on the G-10, upon closer inspection it somehow had a chunk come out, like a chip. Not even on a corner, it's in the flat. I never even dingded it on anything... or dropped it. Have you guys had your G-10 ever chip or break like that?

Sometimes there can be voids also known as air filled pockets in the material. It happens with G10, Mcarta, and Carbon Fiber. I have not seen it often, but it does happen and it should fall under a warranty issue if it in fact is a large enough area. Do you have any pictures?

Eh, let me get on it. I'll clean it up, so my cruddy camera will actually pick it up. The white is gone, it must've been... like a dust or something. I'm sorry if it doesn't appear on camera.

G10 does chip. It's very durable, but it does chip. Could be a void, or could have chipped out a piece along the way somewhere.

I use the back of my Sere 2K near the pivot (knife closed) to open beer bottles. It's picked up lots of chips and scratches. Still gets my beer open though.

It happens... Might have been an inclusion or void that the top fell off of in your pocket.

If it bugs you, send it in to Spyderco. Like RevDevil said - should be covered under warranty.

I suppose so. I should send it in, I don't want to risk any more G-10 bubble pops, it had some dusty residue of some sort in it that I cleaned out.

It does look like a void, I've seen it on CF more often than G10. Send it in, they should be able to slap a new scale on it.
