G10 Handle material

Is the Hell Razor the first Busse to have black G10 offered as a handle material? I have many folders and a few fixed blades with G10 handles and I would never chose it over the Busse micarta, but that's just me.

Thanks, I didn't pay much attention to that model. No known use for a sword in my case. No place to even swing it without a swat team being called and me carted away for psychiatric treatment.

I am seriously considering a black/black-G10 treatment for the HRZR -- the black canvas micarta is just too grey for my taste (and I love the look of the black paper... but durability/usability is paramount in my selection).

Book'em -- why the dislike for the G10? I also have it on a number of fixed and folders, and the only "problem" I've ever had is a bit of chipping on the G10 scale of an AFCK because I use it as a bottle opener :). Also, I hear ya' on the SWAT situation on Toronto. I have all these nice tools, and nowhere to go! Heck, even an EDC folder in your pocket can be confiscated as a "concealed weapon"... even if it's a SAK!

Paper may be less robust than linen or canvas, but it is hardly fragile. If you like paper, go with it. My four favorite Busses all have satin/black paper, as you can see in the lower left corner of this picture:

Nothing wrong with black paper that's fer sur! Might be lowest on the toughness scale for micarta but even that's mighty tough!

I have to admit I perfer micarta over G-10. I also have several BM AFCKs with G-10. Tough stuff G-10, but I like the look and feel of Jerry's micarta. The black canvas get darker the more you foddle it! :D

The first time that I got to see and touch the black paper was at knob creek and I have to say that I was surprised at how much I loved it. Stronger then most other handle materials out there and looks MEAN! Kind of has a dull luster while still being a very deep black. Oh Porkerson, why did you have to swoop in and grab that Green/Black SJT? Porker! :(

ichthyic,

No dislike for G10, just that the Busse micarta handles feel much better to my hands.

I would agree that the black paper on satin looks great, especially the Meaner Street. For some reason, though, to me the black paper on satin looks better on smaller blades. I wonder what black paper on black blade would look like... anybody?, Bueller?

Also does anybody know -- is the G10 textured the same as the micarta? From what I can remember on the AK47 pictures of the beater green, it looked like it. All of my other G10-handled knives have fairly smooth finishes.

Thanks for posting that!

Drats. Just because of those pics, I placed my order for the Hell Razor Black G10-on-Black. And now the wait.
