G10 handle vs Linen Micarta

Looking for some info, I like the Orange handle RC4 but the handle seems like plastic, how does it compare to a classic handle like say the one that I have on my RC6? Also, does the color wear off?

Whats the feel of the G10 compared to the linen micarta on the RC4 ?

color will not wear off since it is throughout the plastic. I'll let others answer how it compares to the Micarta.
 
Well thanks for the info on the color, but Don't have a single answer from anyone on the feel of the scales, too bad, I'm making the purchase tomorrow, so its either an RC4 black with linen micarta or OD with orange G10, hope to have some kind of answer by than.
 
i agree w/ Jeff. buy the orange. i have the rc3 in orange g10 and the mr has a bunch of micartas. i like the g10 better. it's smoother to the touch and looks way cooler!
 
Thanks for the answer Miss but does it have less gripping, how is it when wet, does it absorb like the linen micarta. I like the FOD design of orange but the grip is more essential than visibility when using it, I don't buy knifes because they are cool but because I need one and I love them.
 
they are both good materials i think. just get a color you like. the linen seems to maybe be a bit more grippy, but its all good. i just got an rc-3 tan with the linen handles. i cut a watermelon today and the grip was outstanding when wet!

If you like the orange... go for it.:thumbup: You will not be disappointed as it will serve you well.
 
Well thanks everyone, I'll sleep on that and make the final decision tomorrow morning (its gone be my third RAT after and Izula and an RC6, by the way I have some knives I don,t use anymore because of RAT fondness, anyone need a knife or 2 :) )

G10 is some tough stuff. If I have the choice on my knives, I get G10 over Micarta. (unless the G10 is Orange). I have about 20 Rat Cutlery knives and they are all Micarta. I can't stand Orange handles.
 
the feel of g10 is smoother than micarta but it is very grippy,I was suprised how grippy it is when wet.get it you'll love it!

i don't think it has less grip. it does not absorb like the micarta. i like it much better when prepping meat for a meal. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653701 check out the pics i posted in that thread. look at the micarta vs the g10 when i used them to prep food. you can see the g10 didn't absorb anything and the micarta did.
 
Well once again thanks, questions answered, now decision making going to start (A nice pillow, warm bed and a good night sleep).

RAT RC4 Black blade with linen micarta, Just love my RC6 and the sane in RC4 will please me more than anything, a bright lanyard will be more discrete than the orange handle, plus the OD with the Orange looks too funky for me :)
 
I like the feeling of Linen Micarta better. I seem to feel like I have a better grip with it.
