I have a Benchmade Nimravus with G10 handles. Anyone have information one the G10 material?

Basically its a really great, tough and grippy material if textured correctly, plus it can look real nice sometimes.

Wow thats a lot of information. Thanks. Being on a Benchmade I thought it should be pretty durable.

Basically micarta and G10 are the same stuff - micarta uses a cloth fabric or paper base, and G10 uses a fiberglass cloth base. All use a similar resin, and are made by different manufacturers - in fact, you can pretty much make your own.

Formica (as in the stuff on your kitchen counter) is another reformulation - the Formica name comes from "FORmerly MICArta" - or so I've heard.

Very tough stuff, whatever variant you go with.

They remind me of early electronic circuit board materials - Bakelite (Micarta) and glass-epoxy (G10) - except no holes. Hmmm, a use for my old circuit boards??

Fiberglass slivers are hell and a half. But go for it just to show the world how geeky you are.
