How do you remove the G10 insert from a mini mojo? I want to replace the G10 with things a lot more interesting such as ivory or dino bone....... Prying and scraping sure didn't work but I still have all my fingers attached!

A 2nd question....... Does the steel scale on the mini mojito still have the inser fully surrounded by metal or did it lose the upper support area? If it did I think I better hit Ebay to buy a few of the mini mojo's.... :-)

I was wondering the same thing. I'd like to buy one but I don't care for the black insert.

If you are able to swap it out please post pics.

I don't own one....yet, but it may be like the Speed Bump where there are some small round "plugs" retaining the scale from the backside. I had to remove them to separate the scale from the liner, but they weren't needed for reassembly since the 2 knife halves are held together by screw- that and they wouldn't stay put anyway after taking them out.

I could be wrong but it couldn't hurt to take it apart and have a look. Let us see what you end up doing, it sounds cool.

If you are talking about the pics of the Mini Mojitos where the G10 goes all the way to the spine, I believe those are actually early photos of a Mojo proto or preproduction version. The photos never got replaced with images of the production version. They are still on the Kershaw website too.

It is real easy to remove the scale with heat. Remove three screws get out the mini torch and voila, it pretty much pops off...... Laquer thinner removed the glue quickly....

Here is the third one I have done........ Dinosaur bone.......

Thomas, does changing the scale void the warranty? I hope not! :-)

Very cool!

Do you have an pics of the whole knife?
How about the other two?

Thanks for sharing!

Is that bone brittle , or would it stand to a short fall or three on the kitchen floor ? ( things of that nature )

Looks good.

The stone should survive any fall that does not hit the stone directly. To see better pics: type in a search "stone handled" on a certain auction site.

I have bought 8 Kershaw Mini Mojo's to do stone inserts on!

I was hoping Thomas would see this thread as I am wondering if Kershaw would still honor their ususal warranty....... hmmmm......

Thank you for all of the positive comments as I do this for the love of the art not to make money!
