Hey BladeForums.
I'm new around here, but not to knives.
I like cool/unique weapons, gadgets, etc.
I'm a seasoned poster over at www.CalGuns.net.

I am really interested in these Livesay NRG (non-metallic) knives.
(Disclaimer: No I'm not a criminal and no I'm not going to take it to an airport. I'm not stupid.)

But it seems that Livesay's website is all over the place and I've read he doesn't even make knives anymore. I can't find an ordering page on the site.
Does anyone know where I can buy one of these NRGs? Seems like retail is only $20. Worth the money for novelty item like this.

Thanks,

Ryan

Stop. Step Back. Walk quickly away from Newt Livesay.

He has been taking money for knives that he never ships for years now. After things get so hot for him from pissed customers demanding knives or money, he shuts downs shop and disappears. After things cool down a bit, he comes back and does the same thing over again. The last time, I believe that he even burned his daughter & son-in-law, who joined him in his business.

I am personally aware of this "cycle" happening with him 3 times over the past 10+ years. This is probably the reason you can't easily track where he is right now.

As a knifemaker, Newt made some awesome knives for the times, as a businessman, do not give him any of your money. Do not trust anything he tells you.

Regarding the NRG, I have one, it's just a plastic knife, made for stabbing. I think I paid ~$35 from a secondary source. Not much different from those "CIA letter openers" that you can find online.

Thanks for the heads up CWL.
That seems to be the general consensus around here, I was just hoping maybe someone knew of a third party source or maybe even someone had one they wanted to part with.

I know it is basically a CIA Letter Opener but I just thought the design looked a little more knife like, which I guess is the opposite of the purpose of such knives, but still a nice shape.

There is really no one else making anything like these anymore?
I'm familiar with the Emerson Non-Metallic Karambit (I have a real folding Emerson that I love, same shape) and the Cold Steel "NightShade" series, as well as the various "CIA Letter Openers".
If I can't find someone making something more like this, I suppose I'll look at those offerings next.

Thanks for the reply regarding Livesay, it is a shame when a talented person with solid products simply has no business ethics (or ethics in general). Such a waste of a great business.
