Anybody have any opinions on this knife? I was planning on getting one in the future, but when I handled a 1660 leek in 440A, the design kinda threw me off....

I liked everything except for the tip of the blade, which seems overly fragile. If I got the blade, I would probably use it for EDC and light tasks, but the piece of mind of knowing your knife tip is strong and you wont totally snap it off (like my Delica) is good.

However, the combined G10 and S30v at a reasonable price point make the knife more appealing. Thoughts?

Look at a kershaw shallot. Similar design but a bit heftier. You can get one in 110v for a screaming deal online. About the same price as the leek.

Have you looked at the Random Leek? It seems it might solve your fragile-tip concerns. You may have to "FrankenLeek" it to get G10 handles, though.

What firebert said. The g-10 leek is a nice little blade, very grippy. I have found the tip of the Leeks to be a bit frail, used as intended and designed it isn't a problem. The Random profile is a bit more solid, have one and like it. Never really thought about putting the random blade in the g-10 frame, might have to try it.

The Shallot would be another option- similar knife in a bit larger package.

Random leek does have a slightly stronger reverse tanto tip. The feeling of the coating is what I like a lot about that knife. Just use it like a knife and don't pry with it.

If you want to pry, get yourself a ZT
