G10 or canvas

I know g10 is strong, but its also hard. I would think it would hurt your hand to chop with it???

Is the canvas a better feel?

What say you?

I like canvas micarta much better for a chopper. Although I like the looks of G10, it sharp, cold & transfers more shock compared to canvas micarta.

Hi Real Talk, I have G10 handles on my CGFBM and I really like them. I have used it with the handles wet and it worked good as well. The next day after a long day or night of chopping and battoning my palm usually feels it but that is with micarta or G10 makes no difference. Overall I prefer canvas micarta because it is more grippy due to the texture but G10 is alright in my book. If you get the G10 and hate it the Busse Custom Shop can swap them out for Canvas or just wear some gloves.
Here is my CGFBM with G10 handles that I chop with.

Canvas Micarta ftw when it comes to actual use. However, I LOVE the look of G10 and still use it.

I haven't got a knife with G-10 on it , but I do have one with canvas micarta and like it alot . They work well either wet or dry too .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Canvas is lighter also.

Use = Canvas or linen

Looks = G-10 or paper

CANVAS!! It's lighter, provides better grip, looks better in most cases, and overall just feels the best out of all the micartas and G-10.

Nothing beats Res-C on big blades though!

Any of the handle materials other than res-c can and will be sharp if there are any pointy edges on them.
I have been cut by Black Canvas on the rear of a hand smoothed KZ2 handle, snakeskin on a machined CGFBM near the pinky and by G10 on an NMFBM near the pinky, so it is NOT handle material exclusive.
Thankfully, hotspots are easy to fix with a few minutes of sanding, so no biggie.

As for picking the material, if it is not Res-c and you chop into a hard enough object, it is going to ring your hand pretty good whether it is G10 or micarta.
If the handles are hand smoothed, then get the material you like the looks of best (of what is available to choose from) and don't look back.
If they are machined, I would say the same, with the reminder to be prepared to lightly sand any spots that make YOUR hand uncomfortable with YOUR knife.
It is physically impossible for any company to make one handle feel perfect to every hand, so it is what it is.

Pretty much it comes back to any of the materials will do the job it is intended for just fine as long as it is a comfortable grip for you.
My advice to every person new to Busse blades is simply pick what you want and don't worry too much about the differences.
Linen feels the nicest to my hand when my eyes are closed, everything else follows so close after that, it is hard to say if any one in particular is the best.

Linen and canvas best grip

Linen and black paper best all arounders

The Cupidvore should be somewhere in the middle of that photo for the perfect focal point! Nice collection, I am suprised you have any hair left on your body after all of that "testing for sharpness".:D
