g10 or frn manix 2?

The G10 flavor is heavier, feels more robust in the hand, and almost surely is more robust and bulletproof. The lightweight version is not actually FRN, but "fiberglass reinforced co-polymer". To me, both FRN and FRCP are "plastic", but that's neither here nor there. The lightweight version is very lightweight for its size. While it almost has a flimsy feel in the hand, I think its a pretty solid piece of knife and perfectly up to the task of EDC. Consider also that the FRCP version is pinned, and later versions have a screwed vs. pinned pivot. I have the pinned pivot and have had good luck with it.

So you just gotta decide what floats your boat. I like to keep my carry weight at a minimum where possible, so for my needs the FRCP version is groovy. But I have the G10 flavors and they get pocket time too. Its all about what you are into.

I wouldn't mind the FRCP model if it had liners like the Dileca/Endura 4, but as it stands I'd go for the G10 model. Also has better blade steel.

If you can get your hands on it, the Manix 2 Sprint with Carpenter Steel would be my recommendation. They show up here and there on the secondary market and in my opinion, is the best Manix 2 to EDC. Its got a full flat grind like the lightweight version, really nice coarse G-10, and skeletonized liners which makes it lighter than the regular G-10 production models. You will pay a bit more, but I think it is worth it.

I had both, kept the LW and sold the G10. At the time they were the biggest folders had and I felt the G10 version was to heavy. But these days I don't mind the weight. That being said I like the look o the LW better I have plenty of knives in black G10 so having something a little different is nice.
