G10--Original Applicaton

I received my "repaired" Pro-Tech "X-Duke" friday and the factory has made it perfect. (I MEAN it!)
When I look at the Duke, I wonder about the G10 scales. They're really hard and "unbendable". I was just wondering if anyone knew the original application for which this "super plastic" was invented?
The Space Shuttle program, perhaps?

Thanks,
Will

www.mcmastercarr.com According to this site it was developed for circuit boards. Go to raw materials, click on plastics, then click on garolite. Many different grades besides G-10. Even some incredibly expensive kevlar laminates.

I had to go check- the kevlar/phenolic laminate is $378.00 for a 12"x12"x1/4" sheet.

In 1978 I owned and operated a Circuit board manufacturing prototype shop for the aerospace industry in Southern
Caifornia.

We used G10 as a base material for mil spec circuit boards.
