G10 ruining pockets, any ideas?

I have recently purchased a ZT0350 (first ZT) and it has their G10 scales on it.

I have been carrying it for 3 or 4 days and I can already see that the G10 is wearing at my pocket very badly where I clip my knife to it.

does anyone have any ideas to prevent this?

some ideas I have had are new scales (has anyone done this, if so pics and info?), and put a small leather patch over the area (which i have had on a few pairs of pants) though

I know that the tightness of the pocket clip is helping wear at it, since it holds my jeans pressed against my pocket, but I dont want to change the pocket clip

So any ideas (or comments on mine) would be greatly appreciated, since I love the knife...its bomb proof and dont want to get a different knife

PS: I saw a thread on something like this a while back and have searched but couldn't find it

Take some sand paper and rub down where the clip pinches on the G10. If that area is smooth, it comes out smoother and wont tear at the pocket. I do it with my Fox Karambit. works well

Bend the clip out so it puts less pressure on pocket.

Sand the G10 so its less abrasive.

Engineer another solution.

But seriously, if you decide to sand the g10, be very careful. That stuff is VERY bad to inhale. Do it under running water, with some sort of respiratory mask on. Even for light sanding, can't be too careful.

^^^ I say this as well and I personally do it in the same order. Bending the clip is pretty routine for me because most come too tight for my preference.

ya, I am considering sanding the scales.....or I will try to find new scales for it, though I dont know where to get some

I am considering picking some sort of wood and making them myself

Or making my own Micarta....probably out of black denim...or something else, I dont know what it will be though

Easy solution. Take off the pocket clip and wear the knife in a belt sheath. You won't lose it as easily
and the jeans are spared a shedding.

You are an engineer, solved your own problem and didn't realize it?

You keep the G10 grippy, wear out your pockets, use those pants to make your own Micarta. Doesn't get any easier than that does it? ;)

I thought of that too, but figured if he didn't want to bend the clip, that was probably out of the question. That's the first thing I do to all my folders, though — it's illegal here to carry anything but openly.
