I’m new here so please accept my apologies for dumb questions. I would like to know how to polish/finish G10 (yes, I have a respirator, dust collection and air filtration). Is there anyway to keep the white white while sanding over the SS pins and tang? As soon as you buff anything metal the gunk gets in the white fibers.....this is my first G10 knife, I read here that the stuff is bad news so this may b my 1st & last.

I’m no expert on G10, but I use it more than anything else. I have 20 year old kitchen knives that see daily use and no sign of wear. Also even ‘polished’ it stays grippy when wet. I love it. And it hasn’t killed me.

I finish to 400 grit then buff with white diamond compound. That’s it.

Of yeah, I prefer peening my pins. On G10 it can break the fibers around the hole. It’s ok you just have to grind it down a few thousandths if it happens.

what grit have you been sanding up to ? what color sandpaper ? dark colored sandpaper can leave residue all by itself. i will suggest going up to 1000 grit at the least. the finer the grit, the smaller the scratch marks. the smaller the scratch marks, the smaller the grooves the unwanted color can settle and get stuck into.
