I understand G10 scales are probably a quality & cost effective choice for knife scales.
I'm just getting G10ed out.
Last couples of knives I bought had metal scales. Just bought titanium scales for my Griptillian.
Anyone else have thoughts on this ???

Don't really have a preference unless it's some of those slick metal scales and I really don't like them at all.

There is a small abrasive wheel called "Heatless Wheels".
They wear down as you use them.
I have been thinking of using them; then a quick run over a brass or steel wheel for more grip.

I could easily clamp it down in my mill and do a pattern but beside the point. Enough knives out there to get something I like the feel of from the start.

I like G10. It has a good balance of durability, wear resistance, and weight. From a utilitarian standpoint, it is hard to beat in my opinion. I could see getting bored with it though.

I enjoy the look of polished G10, but yeah, I'm generally not a huge fan of the plain black stuff either. I prefer micarta, but also natural materials like wood or bone.

It's my favorite default handle material. I like lots of others, but I'm always happy when I see G10.

Barring a particular company's peel-ply texture preferences, I know what I'm getting and it's proven, reliable, and comes in a range of colors.
