Does anyone have any good suggestions as to a source for G10 scales, I would love to match my 1911 to my blade.
thanks

I think there was just a thread about this over in the knife makers forum here. There were a couple of sources listed!

Simonich used to make some nice G10 "gunner grips", here's a link to a pic in the Simonich forum:

I've also seen a few Strider G10 grips floating around, and there is a high-end custom 1911 out there with Busse scales and matching Busse custom knife. I can't recall where I saw that- I want to say Les Baer, but I could be mistaken. (edit) a Google search for "Busse 1911" let me to an auction that showed the Busse/ Les Baer 1911/knife combo. I won't post the link, though, don't wanna get smacked for "auction spotting". From the handle, the knife looks like a BATAC- a TAC handled something or other, at any rate. Very nice. The "Buy it now" price? More than the going rate for a couple SHBM's. Ouch.

Try the search tool, I bet you'll find what you're looking for.

A Google search for "g10 1911 grips" turns up quite a few links, there's a nice set at Brownells for just under $70. The same search turned up a pair of Strider/ Simonich grips for $60. They're not hard to come by.

Good luck!

it is a les baer, and the knife is a "jack hammer" - a corrugated beveled clip point version of the satin jack. it has a looks like it's a batac because it appears to have a shorter blade then the normal satin jack. I believe thats due to the clip point taking off some of the length, and inherently making it look shorter then the drop point.

there have been a few grip sets sold separated for 1911 from busse, but good luck gettin ahold of a set :D

texasknife.com has g10 sheets, and there a nice company to deal with. I've bought several items there and have been generally pleased with their service.

you may get a more thorough answer from the knife makers forum.

You can get G10 from Texas Knife Supply, Knifekits, Masecraft, and Sheffields Knife Supply. They all have fairly good selection as far as color and thickness.

I am looking for the multi colors, most people only carry the single or duel color styles

Both Sheffields and Masecraft carry multicolors. They have midnight tiger (Black/Tan) , TigerSkin( Orange/Black), Blue/Black, Green/Black, and a few more.
