Recently picked up a Gentleman Jim, love it, but G10 not as grippy as I like. Do different folders have differing G10 texture, or are they all the same?

What year is the gentleman Jim? I can't recall what year it is, but more recent Emerson's have coarser g10. Other will know more.

If memory serves me correctly (which let's be honest is only about 1/4 of the time) newer models feature G10 with a texture pattern that is coarser; if I had to guess I think it's around a 400 grit, maybe as low as 250. Older models (let's use my 2008 13) had a finer texture-- around the 600 grit benchmark.

Of course I could be completely off with speculation and numbers by a million miles.

Bump! I noticed that my Jungle Commander and the CQC7V have the same, wider pattern G10. It works but I prefer the finer G10 texture. It just feels more like an Emerson.
What say you guys?

I posed this question on another forum with no reply. I notice the Xmas knives black and grey look like the grippy stuff and pics of the color(orange, green etc) the pattern looks wider and smoother. is that the case?

I have a few eki knives that are older like 2010 and they have a pretty fine texture. The 2013 and newer eks i have some very course and some medium course textures seems hit or miss to me.

My Jungle cqc7 is extremely grippy. More so than my girlfriends normal 7. I prefer the more coarse stuff. I have noticed the texture varying from year to year.

My 2011 CQC-8 has a really smooth texture....My new CQC-7B is a pocket destroyer.....and I wish it was like the 8.

Interesting.
The Tan seems to be a thicker G10 too. I recall someone mentioning this.

My Super Commander, CQC 15 and Super Karambit are the grippiest G10s the least are the tan G10s. They are coarse but nowhere near the sandpaper textures of the other ones.
