G10 thickness question for new CS's w/ CTSXHP

I was reading about the thinner scales used on the CS Lawman in some threads. I was wondering which models had their G10 thinned out. Is it for all the new CTS-XHP models? I'm assuming the Ultimate Hunter is the same thickness... can anyone confirm? What CTS XHP models were unchanged in G10/handle thickness?

I keep wanting to pick up a few models with the new steel, but I prefer thicker scales on my knives, and put off purchases in the past because of width concerns on the larger AUS8 versions. The only model that I have is the Mini Recon in AUS8.

Recon XL & Large, Espadas, Talwars, AK 47 all still have the thicker G10 scales. The Ultimate Hunters and Swifts scales are "thicker" too but more rounded than the flat scales of the aforementioned models

--> Not all models, the "tactical" line still has the same G-10 - including Recon 1, Talwar, Espada, AK47
--> Even the small version i.e. the Mini Recon 1, Mini AK or Hold Out III has thiner G-10 scale.

--> No, in fact even though contoured, at the thickest part, the Ultimate Hunter has the thickest G-10 scale CS have. It's even thicker than the Recon 1. Swift is also contoured, but it's thinner.

3. What CTS XHP models were unchanged in G10/handle thickness?
--> See #1

Thank you for the replies.

When I said that I assumed that the Ultimate Hunter was the same thickness, I meant that I was assuming the Ultimate Hunter in AUS8 was the same thickness as the Ultimate Hunter in CTS XHP.

I really like the shape of the Swift, but I don't want an assisted knife.

Actually Ultimate Hunter was never in Aus8, it came out in 2015 when CS switch to XHP, so all Ultimate Hunter are XHP.

AFAIK, only the mini Recon, mini ak47, and American lawman has thinner g10 with less extreme texturing. I prefer this on these knives since then are more pocketable.

Thank you, I didn't know that.

Thank you for the info.

I can confirm byt my own measurements that the Hold Out II and I, Talwar and AK47 have the same thickness than their older AUS8 counterparts, FWIW.

The new G-10 is thinner and smoother. Hold Out II, Hold Out III, Mini AK, Lawman, Mini Lawman and Mini Recon. As far as I know.

There is a thread on here, somewhere, I think from late last year, where someone measured all of the knives, AUS8 and CTS-XHP and gave the thicknesses.

i have swapped xhp blades into the thicker handles on my American lawman with no probs. there was in fact an ultimate hunter in aus8 but it was a much different knife, made in japan

Oh yeah forgot about that, but that old Ultimate Hunter was a way different knife...
