Do you guys have any input on handle material choice for a TGLB? Cosmetically speaking, it's gotta be either green/black G10, or black paper micarta. However, functionally speaking, you guys would know better than me. What say guys? Oh, and FYI, this knife will certainly be a user, but I like them to look good too. Thanks for your help guys.

Black Paper Micarta does look nice when it's new, but it will probably not stay that way very long with hard use. G-10 is significantly stronger/tougher than paper micarta and will retain it's shape, texture and look a lot longer.

I'm a G10 Guy... I've got Black & Tan G10 on a TGLB and it's awesome. Love it, love it, LOVE it! :D
Only one of my Busse's has Paper micarta and its a NMFSH. It's very smooth and pleasing hold and use when you're not wearing gloves.
I do remember a warning from RussMo that if you're gonna be in a super cold environment the paper micarta may fail if you beat it hard. :(

G-10 all day every day over Paper Micarta. I use Paper Micarta in my work and it is more fragile than Linen or Canvas Micarta and it doesn't even compare to the qualities of G-10. The only thing I can say about Black Paper is that I don't think there is anything that is more beautiful regarding man made materials. On a knife it can be an exceptional material. So if you were safe queening your blade go Blk Paper, but if your going out to pull a Daryl on W/D get the G-10. Yes there are those here that will say they have never had a problem with there's chipping or even breaking. That is fine, but if you are playing the law of averages, stick with what works and excells.

Busse has a lifetime warranty.
Either way you win.
I dig paper micarta, have it on 4 users and never had a issue.

I much prefer g-10 over paper, I have paper not be consistent in color and sometimes it can look weird with heavy use.
with that said canvas is what is on my users

Black paper micarta is beautiful to hold and behold, and I doubt anyone, regardless of what they say can out use it.

I think paper micarta is ugly. Kinda like silly putty but black. It just looks too smooth. Actually it sorta looks like plastic to me. Now black G10 on the other hand is beautiful. All the specs in it give it a blacked out carbon fiber look. For comfort I go canvas micarta. For looks I go G10.

G10 is the strongest, toughest, most durable material we use. For hard use there is nothing better.

Paper sure is pretty though.

Yes, precisely why I've been torn between g10 and paper micarta. Think I'll go with green/blk g10. Thx guys!

I agree that it looks like cheap plastic, and feels like it to. If you have ever used a Case knife with delrin handles it feels the same to me.
I really like the look of linen micarta and g10, especially the layered g10 with different colors. They both have more "character" in my opinion.

I prefer g10 or canvas micarta over paper micarta. If canvas micarta was offered in more interesting colors it would be my choice every time because of how comfortable and "soft" it is. But cosmetically it would go g10. Adding liners to canvas micarta is a pretty nice combo though!:)

I have had both black paper and G10.

I love the feel of the paper micarta in hand.

G10 can look snazzier. If that makes sense, it seems to not age. Black paper micarta can age and look a bit like licorice (it can get a bit greenish, or yellowish).

I really like the fact that paper micarta ages and changes color when it is in other colors (I think Busse needs to offer tan, white paper micarta as handle materials).

I think that tan canvas micarta is one of my favorite user materials.

Linnnen micarta combines the snazzier look of G10 with the better feel in hand of Canvas micarta.

The green/black G10 looks good. I prefer G10 over paper micarta for both looks and feel. I like canvas micarta for large users, and linen micarta looks cool.

I like them both, but in the case that this will be a user I'd say to go with the G-10 handle. Black Paper is a gorgeous material, but it is also pretty slick. The G-10 offers a little more grip and its a bit tougher as well. That's my opinion, either will look great. Good luck in your decisions.
