This is probably the incorrect place to ask. If it is, will one of the Mods please move this to the proper sub-forum? Thank you.

Simple(?) question:
If painted, will G10 hold the primer and paint, or will it flake off?

I'm thinking of using 1/4 inch G10 to make a simple drop bracket to hold the bottom half of a cane holder/carrier for one of my Rollators. :)
It seems no one makes a metallic silver G10. Least wise I can't find it if they do. :(

I would say it will depend probably on the G10 itself and the type of paint but I am far from an expect on G10.

What about silver twill? Not exactly metallic, but might be close enough.

That would probably work. Whom has it? :)

I found some. OUCH!! Call it $38 for two pieces each 5 inch long x 1.5 wide x .25 in thick is way out of budget. :(

Didn't realize it was that much more expensive. Gray G10 would be cheaper, but won't have that metallic look. I'm not sure how well paint would hold up if you decide to go that way.

If you are going for the metallic look, how about using some Aluminum slabs? For a quarter inch, you can pick it up cheap and it works pretty easily. The swarf is bad to inhale and ridiculously flammable, but with a respirator and good cleanup it's not much harder to shape than G10. It heats up to "ouch goddamnit" really quick, but with a nice buff you will get the look you want.
