G10?

G10 is supposed to be the coolest thing going (in some circles). But, before I try it out, just how nasty is this stuff?

I have kids wandering in and out of the garage. I try to keep up, but if it leaves glass slivers here and there it might be too much.

It's nasty stuff! If you don't have a vaccum system, arrange your shop vaccum so it sucks up all of the dust while you grind. Make sure you wear a good respirator, long sleves and a hat. Make sure you vaccum yourself off when you go in the house, you don't want to track it indoors. Just be careful.
 
Chuck,you must have gotten ahold of some nasty g10, sounds more like cabron fiber. I grind g10 all the time and it never gives me any problems. No glass fibers or itching or digging into the skin like crabon fiber does.
 
It is not nice stuff but I don't find it anywhere near as objectionable as micarta. I HATE the way micarta smells when grinding it. Yuk! I won't use it for that reason, even wearing a respirator I can't stand it. :eek:
