I bought some bulk G10 from Sheffields and cut out a couple of scale blanks this morning. This is the first time that I have used G10. I used a bi-metal blade on the band saw and seems like this stuff will work on a saw blade rather quickly. Am I imagaining this or have you guys found that it is rough on saw blades?

You mean your saw blades don't like cutting glass fibers in an epoxy resin matrix? :)

Yeah, G10 is known to be hard on cutting tools, and your respitory system too:(

Make sure you're wearing a good respiratior when you're working G10, CF or Micarta. For Micarta you'll want Formaldahyde rated filters. That stuff stinks to high heaven! And it's bad for you.

I have used Micarta before and I am familiar with it. Also used it for some welding equipment insulation before I retired. bgoode posted a picture of a knife that he used the black G10 on, a guy saw it and decided that is what he wants on a knife that I'm making for him, instead of wood.
I knew that either the G10 affected the saw blade rather quickly or I had gotten it duller than I remembered the last time I used it which was on D2. Thanks for the reply.

G10 and Micarta are entirely different materials.
G10 is fiberglass cloth in epoxy resin.
Micarta is cotton, linen, or paper in Phenolic resin.
Glass is way more abrasive.

You're absolutely correct, I was just pointing out that they are all toxic to breath.
