G2 Remote Release with straight edge

I was in one of my favorite haunts today and found a new Spyderco Remote Release with a G2 straight blade. I was wondering if Spyderco is still producing blades with G2 steel or have I come across some old stock?

Old stock. I believe the last plain edge RR were made in '97 or '98.

I have one. I have used both this and the Snap-It, and in the end, I think I like the Snap-It better.
