"G2"?

I have a Spyderco Delica that's at least 10 years old and the blade has the marking "G2". I thought that the blade was 440A all these years. I can't seem to find any info about this steel and notice that Spyderco uses VG-10 in it's current Delica. Is "G2" the steel?

G2 is the same as GIN-1 (Gingami-1). It's a good steel, IMO. Here's a little more info.
