G8A OR GBA Axe head question

I recently ran across an axe head with a broken handle I found a long time ago and hope to find out an approximate date of manufacture for it. The broken handle had 1962 stamped in the wood very close to where the wood entered the eye of the axe. It has the numbers "29 3 1/2" on one side and on the other a small circle with a crown, the letters G8A or GBA. Beneath this is stamped made in Sweden. It once had blue paint which is all but vanished and the steel itself appears to be somewhat roughly finished with a lot of finishing marks that are from the time of manufacture. It has never had a great deal of surface rust and is in great condition. I can not post a picture at this time but might be able to as soon as I get another card reader that is not made in China. I appreciate any response and offer my thanks in advance.

Thanks "sparky 415" Any idea of its age? I need to pick up a card reader for my cybershot camera memory card until then I can not post any pictures.

Can you take a picture with your phone? and then you can email it to yourself (or however you can get it on your computer), save it on your computer, then use a picture hosting site like Photobucket, and then you can post the pictures on here. It's what I use, and so do many others on here. PM me if you need any help. I would be glad to help you..

Since you're on the west coast, there's a good chance that your axe was imported from Sweden (Gransfors Bruks) by a company in San Francisco called Strohecker & Broesamle. They put the "Stro-Bro" label on axes that were stamped GBA.

On the company history page at Gransfors Bruks' website, "Strohecker & Broesamle in San Francisco" was said to be "a major customer".

Square_Peg posted a thread with an axe catalog from the 1960s which included various models from Stro-Bro (made of Swedish steel).
